Italian stone artisans deliver finesse to
Qatar
Masons employ first ‘mast climber’ site access equipment on peninsula
Nabco, a company under Loyalty Business
Development & Investment (LBDI), is now delivering the first example of
expertly installed stone cladding in Qatar, on the Double Tree Suites project
by Hilton Doha – a project which is also a first in the country for its use of
a mast climber.
One of a kind in Qatar, Nabco is a firm of highly
trained Italian specialists established to occupy the niche for the
non-adhesive mechanical installation of high-value building façades.
Mohamed Al Khayat, LBDI’s CEO, notes: “Nabco is for
very sensitive luxury projects such as palaces, or, as at present, our work
with the Hilton. If you are using white marble, for example, you want a
seamless aesthetic, and you cannot get this without a mechanical installation
by experts.”
To achieve this, Nabco has employed an
elite team, with every member trained in Italy, boasting upwards of ten years
experience in the installation and necessary pre-treatment of marble and other
stones or ceramics.
Khayat adds: “If you have a very tall tower
– it is not an easy job to do – you need very professional people to undertake
the mechanical installation. The finishing is very important, and the joint is
the most important element of this, whether for an antique or flush look.”
The equipment used to support such
operations is also very important, and for the type of work undertaken the
specific platform required for is a ‘mast climber’, which is a cradle supported
by a ground-fixed vertical support structure, rather than from above by cranes
and wires.
Mohamed adds: “This is the most
professional way to do the cladding, and we are looking to have only the most
professional team.”
