Autosports magazine hits the mark in Qatar

Local investment firm hits in the mark in catering to Doha’s thirst for the fast and furious

Loyalty Business Development & Investment (LBDI) hails the success of Autosports and sister publication Auto Trader, which caters for the love of fast cars both in Qatar and across the region.

Mohamed   AlKhayat, LBDI’s CEO, explains: “It’s the first magazine in Qatar for sports cars. It is an established international magazine – already twenty years old – but we spotted the gap in Doha.

A monthly magazine, Autosports is focused on events in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and is also now supported by Auto Trader in Qatar, which is a half monthly magazine covering the activities of all the car showrooms in the capital.

The big brands, including BMW, Land Rover, Jaguar, Mercedes Benz and Chevrolet, are all interested in highlighting both the pre-owned and latest models on offer at Doha’s Salwa Road.

And for Mohamed AlKhayat, LBDI’s MD, it is as much of a personal interest as a commercial one. He notes: “I like cars, and I thought it was a good idea to buy the magazine and to start to develop it inside the Qatari market.”

He adds: “The idea also came that we could put all of our own advertising inside this magazine. We pay for our advertisements, all the expenses – as if it’s not our magazine – but we don’t have to go to the market for advertising. We know we have something Qataris will read right here.”

Together, Autosports employs an editorial team of around 40, so that any event, from Frankfurt or Monaco to Jordan and Lebanon, can be followed, with the main team in Qatar supported by independent teams across the Gulf.
